Friday 21. March:

14:00: Can metal become more extreme? Taboos and metal - where do we gofrom here?
15 years after the climax of Norwegian black metal murders and church-fire it is time to look ahead. Is there a limit to what record labels and other interacting musicbusiness related people can work with? What is the next extreme thing to happen? For this interesting discussion we are proved to present the following giants in the field:

Panel: Tom Gabriel Fischer (Celtic Frost) - Gaahl (Gorgoroth) - Maniac (Skitliv)
Moderator: Michael Berberian - Seasons Of Mist

15:00: Keynote speaker: Gaahl
Gaahl was born in the village of Espedal, Fjaler, Norway in 1975. He has a reputation as an enigmatic character, and has been involved with black metal since 1992. He has been in bands such as Gaahlskagg, Trelldom, Sigfader and Gorgoroth. This is the first time ever that he will conduct a live interview in front of an audience.

Please see the festival website for further information.

rights to King and Gaahl

King and Gaahl will not give a detailed public statement on this verdict however they have both remained confident this result would indeed be the final conclusion.

Any third parties who use the name Gorgoroth will from now on be met with legal prosecution.

Gorgoroth, King and Gaahl, will not continue to work with Regain Records given their disloyal acts concerning Gorgoroth and are currently carefully choosing a new label for the release of their next full-length album.

King and Gaahl are now focused on making music for the next album and with planning some very special shows for 2008. As previously announced, Gorgoroth will headline at Wacken Open Air.

As announced earlier, Hellhammer (Mayhem) will join Gorgoroth on drums beginning in 2008.

25.10.2007 - Hellhammer joins forces with King and Gaahl

Continuing on with the new agenda now forged for Gorgoroth, Gaahl and King have enlisted none other than Hellhammer (Mayhem) to join them on battery beginning in 2008.

Gaahl and King are creating a force which will only contain members of a strong and creative energy in honor of the art that is Gorgoroth and their renewed sense of destruction and war! Hellhammer possesses these ideals and he will add another dimension to this new and different beginning.

24.10.2007 - Statement from Gaahl on European tour and reasons for not continuing to work with Infernus

I have registered some concern from friends and fans about the upcoming European tour in November because of the last day’s happenings. I can guarantee that the tour will go on as scheduled.

Gorgoroth has not split up but continued on in a different form. We will do this tour in honor of our working partners, booking agency, promoters and the audience who already bought tickets to the concerts. The alternative would be cancellation, which under no circumstance would I allow at this point in time.

Originally I had the intention of leaving Infernus with some sort of integrity. The way this case has developed I have no other choice but to reveal some of the reasons why I can no longer work with him.

First and foremost, it’s the disrespect he has shown our working partners; record labels, session-musicians, promoters (by sending unserious demands in raiders etc.) and producers we have worked with over the years which has lead to this decision.

In addition, he has not been a creative force for the last 8 years. He has shown no interest in the art defining Gorgoroth during that same period of time. He has not shown up for rehearsals and has broken agreements on several occasions. This is also an important reason in explaining why he is not part of Gorgoroth at the time being. He has broken the codex of honor and is not living by his own rules, the rules he set for himself and his surroundings on all levels.

I have tried for several years my best to continue in the original form in hopes for a change and I have done so in honor of his previous work in Gorgoroth and the fact that he is the founding member. I`ve hoped that he would become the artist he once was several years ago and I’ve realized that it will never happen. It’s gotten to a point were King and I can’t create a fire as long as someone is there pouring water over it.

I`m not personally involved in the formal part of this, but we have prepared for any given result of this matter. I know our partners have worked on our behalf preparing for what we knew would happen, for example, preparing the legal name copyright and other formal tasks. I’ll let the lawyers on both sides argue as much as they want. What is the truth is the truth --- and whoever claims otherwise is a false prophet and will be treated accordingly.

We have reached the conclusion to continue Gorgoroth as a duo because the alternative would be no Gorgoroth at all at this time. King and I have given Gorgoroth content for the last 8 years and will bring our art with us into the future. We are already on our way to start a new and improved area of our work. You will, in the following weeks, be presented our agenda to continue to spread true Norwegian black metal through recordings and concerts. We will, with or without the name Gorgoroth, raise the flame higher and brighter than ever.

The past defines the future, but sometimes you must leave something behind to be able to grow.

22.10.2007 - Gorgoroth and Infernus Part Ways

Gaahl, King and Infernus have decided to part ways. Gorgoroth have existed as a three-piece for the past several years but have ceased from this moment on in this incarnation.

Gaahl (vocalist, lyric writer) and King (bassist, composer) will continue the scheduled European tour in November under the name Gorgoroth with a replacement for Infernus. They will also continue to work together musically, performing their art live and recording in the future. This decision was reached by Gaahl and King as they have been the driving force behind Gorgoroth's music for the past eight years.

Infernus has stated he will take King and Gaahl to court over future use of the name Gorgoroth.

King stopped by the Coffin Case offices in Los Angeles last month where he signed a Coffin Case to be given away on their website this Halloween and took a spin on Jonny's "Batmocar". "Working with Jonny Coffin and Peavey has been great so far and we are really looking forward what 2008 will bring," King states. King is also endorsed by Hartke amps.

30.06.2007 - "Director of satanic concert fined"

According to Polish media Tomasz Dziubiński, the owner of the production company Metal Mind Production, has been fined for organizing Gorgoroth's controversial live performance in Krakow 2004. The text below is an English translation of a receent news article from Gazeta.pl (Polish):

"Tomasz Dziubiński will have to pay a 10 000 PLN (€2500) fine for organising a concert where infringement of religious feelings took place. During the gig of the Norwegian band Gorgoroth naked people were hanging on crosses; satanic symbols, the remains of animals as well as fake blood were used in stage design.

The local court of Kraków-Podgórze fined Tomasz Dziubiński with 10 000 PLN (€2500) for infringing the religious feelings. The accused will also have to cover the legal expenses of 2000 PLN (€500). The court also adjudicated forfeiture of the concert tapes. They will be put in the audiovisual archive of the Jagiellonian Library. [...]

The charges named three cameramen as offended by the band's stage design. During the investigation the prosecutors acquired the band's statement, where they claimed to be unaware of the fact that their actions may infringe the religious feelings of Polish people.

According to an expert analysys, prepared by a theologist from Pope's Theologic Academy, the concert's stage design violated the religious feelings of Christians. The symbol of the cross, which was used there with naked bodies on it is an object of particular worship for Christians, and its combination with satanic emblems is obviously offensive for catholics.

During the investigation the accused denied his guilt, stating that he received the final project of the stage design from the band and he had no possibility to alter it. That was also his explanation in the court. [...]"
